Behind the capital’s tall buildings, many tourist attractions can be visited in Jakarta. Usually, residents of the capital city take a short vacation when the weekend arrives, one of which is museum tours. Jakarta does have a row of museums with different themes. But unfortunately, few tourists know about the beauty value of museum tours.
- National Awakening Museum
This museum building has an entrance design similar to a royal fort and is a former STOVIA medical school during the Dutch colonial era. Inside there are several rooms with a diverse collection of medical equipment. One of the collections that attracted attention was the medical device used to split the human head, placed in a glass cabinet made of iron. In this museum, you will also find medical equipment that is still conventional. Even one room holds a row of scalpels, with shapes that are hard to find nowadays. Meanwhile, in the other room, there is a diorama of the medical dormitory room that will take you back in time and see the lives of ancient doctors.
- Inscription Garden Museum
The location of this museum is in Tanah Abang, around the elite cemetery area belonging to the Dutch colonial. For some people, the collections in the museum are quite scary, ranging from tombstones to coffins that have historical value, namely having brought the first President of the Republic of Indonesia and his deputy. In front of the museum, there is a pillar with a bell on it, where the bell used to be sounded when a hero died.
- Indonesian Hakka Museum
The name ‘Hakka’ comes from a tribe in China, which travelled to the archipelago hundreds of years ago. They are the Han tribe which is famous for its proficiency in concocting traditional medicines. This historic building is divided into three sub-museums: the Indonesian Hakka Museum, the Indonesian Chinese Museum, and the Indonesian Hakka Yodding Museum. When you enter the museum, you will find typical Han household furniture. The Han tribe uses ancient bedding, and there are rows of jars and bottles of various sizes. In the past, these bottles were used as containers for concocting medicines. Then on the right and left of the museum walls are arranged photos of the Han tribe from time to time.
- Cathedral Museum
Inside the Jakarta Cathedral Church is hidden a museum that stores historical stories. The museum is located on the second floor of the Church, where a room on the other you can see the magnificent altar of the Church from up here. In this museum, you can learn about various religious objects used during sacred events. The museum manager always slips important information in each collection object. The goal is that visitors don’t just come to see but can learn new things.
- Tiger Museum
Since its establishment in 2017, the Tiger Museum has been visited by many tourists. You can enjoy various art collections that are works by famous artists. One of the most favourite art galleries in the Infinity Mirrored Room, a masterpiece by Yayoi Kusama. More than 90 works of art on display, both modern and contemporary, from around the world.
- Art Mon Décor Museum
The entirety of this museum contains works of modern and contemporary paintings, which are interesting to see. Visitors will be allowed to take a variety of eye-catching photos. Sometimes this museum is also used as a photoshoot location because of the unique room design. There is no entrance fee to explore the museum, even if you want to tour the whole day. Although the size of the building is not too wide, this museum is always crowded with visitors.
